Mike Ulrich, Public Works Supervisor, reviewed Staff Report No. <br /> 93-476C regarding rekeying of city buildings. Ulrich presented a <br /> total cost of $11,500 to rekey all buildings, purchase a key cutter <br /> which would enable the City to cut keys in-house at a reduced cost, <br /> a pinning kit which will allow the City to rekey an one door for any <br /> facility more efficiently, additional keys and padlocks which are <br /> used for seasonal activities and computer software which would provide <br /> a tracking method for key assignment and record all pin settings. This <br /> cost was received from Best Locks, Inc. <br /> Councilmember Blanchard asked the cost of the pinning kit? <br /> Ulrich explained the cost of the pinning kit to be approximately <br /> $200 and the cost of the key cutter to be $1240. <br /> Councilmember Blanchard asked if these amounts could be put in next <br /> year's budget. <br /> Ulrich explained that it is necessary to purchase all items together <br /> in order to receive the most efficiency. The key cutter is a method <br /> of cost savingsfor the City in that the City could cut a key for $1.00 <br /> and to pay Best to cut the key would cost $2.40. <br /> MOTION/SECOND: Wuori/Rickaby to Approve Expenditure of $11,500 for <br /> Rekeying of City Municipal Buildings Awarded to Best Locks, Inc. with <br /> the funds being transferred from Contingency Fund to City Hall Fund, <br /> 4190-303 . <br /> VOTE: 5 ayes 0 nays Motion Carried <br /> I. Samantha Orduno, City Administrator, reviewed Staff Report No. 93-477C <br /> by explaining that at the March, 1993 Council/Staff Planning Session, <br /> the City Council and Staff began the process of planning for the future <br /> 'operations and developments for the City of Mounds View. The City <br /> Council and staff asked themselves how they could inspire others to <br /> become part of the City's future, to help develop the City's vision, <br /> its goals and the strategies to realize the successful attainment of <br /> these goals. <br /> Orduno explained that a decision was made: to implement a City-wide, <br /> community-driven visioning process that would provide the stakeholders <br /> (everyone who lives and works in Mounds View) with the opportunity to <br /> i <br />
