Mounds View City Council Page Eleven <br /> Regular Meeting April 12, 1993 <br /> 110 invest in their community, shape its future and be a part of Mounds <br /> View's history. <br /> Orduno reported that at this meeting the Council is officially "kicking <br /> off" the 1993/94 City Visioning Process by appropriating funds and <br /> signaling the start of the process with the announcement of the "Mounds <br /> View Look Into the Future" contest for Mounds View students in grades <br /> 1st through 8th. Orduno announced that flyers have been prepared to . <br /> be distributed to the students on Tuesday,. April 13 . Students are <br /> being asked to name the process. There will be a winning name from <br /> each grade level and the student submitting the name chosen will <br /> receive a $50 gift certificate. Overall winnerwillreceive a $100 <br /> gift certificate. Grade winners will be presented their prizes at the <br /> May 10th Council Meeting. The winning name will be used in all <br /> promotional literature, the City Newsletter, cable shows and throughout <br /> the entire process. <br /> Orduno explained the steps to be followed in the Visioning Process. <br /> Two community-wide public forms will be held July 21 and July 22 . The <br /> forums will be conducted by a non-Council, non-staff facilitator and <br /> will host special guest speakers. After the speaker presentations, all <br /> of the forum participants will be asked to join others in small <br /> discussion groups to begin brainstorming the issues, problems and <br /> concerns they see facing Mounds Viewnow and those that will impact the <br /> City in the future. <br /> 411 Orduno announced that in June a brochure will be mailed to each and <br /> every resident and business describing the above-referenced. forums. <br /> There will be a comment card in the brochure that should be filled out <br /> and returned to City Hall so that residents' issues and concerns will <br /> be included in the forum group discussions. <br /> Orduno stated that a summary of the discussions will be prepared and <br /> mailed to every forum participant and also to individuals who submitted <br /> comment cards.. Along with the summary will be anapplication to <br /> volunteer for a position on one of the "issue project teams" . <br /> Orduno explained that each of the key issues identified at the forums <br /> will be the topic for a 5-7 member issue project team. Teams will meet <br /> from September through December and will be charged with developing the <br /> mission, the goals and strategies for the identified issues. All <br /> project teams will submit a preliminary report to a third community- <br /> wide public form in January at which time the public will have <br /> another opportunity for input into the shaping of the future of Mounds <br /> View. . <br /> Orduno reported that the final report will be presented at the March 14 <br /> City Council Meeting. The final report will become the basis from <br /> which the City's Vision Statement, Mission Statement, Future Goals and <br /> Strategies will be developed and incorporated into a working policy <br /> document. . . <br />
