SUMMARY: Bids were opened for the paving of Silver View Park pathway this day, Monday, July 26, 1993 at 10:00 a.m. Four bids were received. The bids were as follows: Bituminous Consulting and Contracting Co. Inc. $14,840 Diversified Paving, Inc. 16,980 Midwest Asphalt Corp. 23,900 Arcade Asphalt, Inc. 28,038 I have called references provided by Bituminous Consulting and Contracting Co., Inc. and have had good reports of good quality work. It is therefore my recommendation to the City Council to award the project to Bituminous Consulting and Contracting Co. Inc. Since this project is funded with grant monies, I wish to request the Council to approve additions to this project bid to equal the total grant dollars, including increased restoration of the path including more than one row of sod on each side as well as increased lineal paving to include the area from the parking lot to Silver Lake Road in the area omitting the storm water drainage ditch. It is to the City's benefit to take advantage of the total amount of grant monies available for this park improvement and for this reason I wish to request the opportunity to increase both the lineal footage of trail to the East (to Silver Lake Road) and provide increased restoration of the path, both of which fall within the scope of this trail grant project. jECOMMENDATION;
