Item No: 7G <br />Meeting Date: November 24, 2008 <br />Type of Business: CB <br />Administrator Review: _____ <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br />To:Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From:Joe Rhein, Consulting Engineer <br />Item Title/Subject:Resolution 7360, Amending Resolution 7307 In Regard <br />To Parking Along Hillview Road And Greenwood Drive <br />As Reconstructed Under The 2009-2010 Street and <br />Utility Improvement Project <br />Background: <br />On February 11, 2008 the City Council approved Resolution 7223 creating the Streets and <br />Utilities Committee (Streets Committee). <br />On June 14, 2008 the Streets Committee held a Public Meeting to review several specific <br />design issues on the 2009-2010 Street and Utility Improvement Project and to get <br />feedback from the public. One issue discussed was additional parking at Hillview Park <br />On June 16, 2008 the Streets Committee adopted recommendations on specific design <br />issues, including additional parking at Hillview Park, for forwarding to the City Council. <br />On July 28, 2008 the City Council adopted Resolution 7307 concerning the <br />recommendations brought forth from the Streets Committee on June 16, 2008. <br />On October 23, 2008 the Parks and Recreation and Forestry Commission (Parks <br />Commission) adopted recommendations regarding additional parking at Hillview Park. <br />On October 27, 2008 the City Council discussed the recommendations brought forth from <br />the Parks Commission and concluded that the residents adjacent to the park should be <br />invited to the November 10, 2008 Council Meeting and given the opportunity to express <br />their opinion as to the need for parking improvements adjacent to Hillview Park. <br />On November 10, 2008 the City Council received public input on the issue of parking for <br />Hillview Park. <br />Discussion: <br />The issue of parking at Hillview Park was discussed at length during the November 10, <br />2008 City Council meeting. Input was provided by the public, members of the Parks <br />Commission, members of the Streets Committee, and Staff. Council also had significant <br />discussion on the issue.
