Item No. 08D Meeting Date: December 8, 2008 Type of Business: CA WK: Work Session; PH: Public Hearing; CA: Consent Agenda; CB: Council Business City Administrator Review _______ City of Mounds View Staff Report To: Honorable Mayor and City Council From: Joe Rhein, Consulting Engineer Item Title/Subject: Resolution 7379 Accepting the Hidden Hollow South Utility and Street Improvement Project and Authorizing Final Payment Background: On June 12, 2006, the City Council adopted Resolution 6846 awarding a construction contract for the Hidden Hollow South Utility and Street Improvement Project to Nord Excavating Incorporated of Elk River, Minnesota in the amount of $177,723.00. On September 25, 2006, the City Council adopted Resolution 6928 approving Change Order No. 1 for the project, which extended the specified completion date but resulted in no change to the contract amount. On October 8, 2007, the City Council held a Public Hearing and adopted Resolution 7169 approving the assessment roll for the project. Discussion: Nord Excavating Incorporated has requested that acceptance and final payment be made by the City for the Hidden Hollow South Utility and Street Improvement Project. All work has been satisfactorily completed in accordance with the contract plans and specifications. The necessary contract documents have been provided. A copy of Request for Payment No. 4 & Final is included with this Staff Report, along with a project summary letter that provides a recap of the construction schedule and cost. The original contract amount was $177,723.00. There was one change order on the project, which modified only the specified completion date and did not alter the contract amount. The actual final construction cost is $185,895.41, and the final payment amount is $34,930.70.
