Mounds View City Council October 27, 2008
Regular Meeting Page 6

or ankle band that residents buy, and they are a GPS tracking device in case there is an issue with 1
an autistic child or vulnerable adult. 2
3
Clerk Administrator Ericson agreed to look into the information provided by contacting New 4
Brighton and the League of Minnesota Cities. 5
6
B. Reports of Staff 7
8
Clerk Administrator Ericson noted that there was a joint meeting of the Parks Commission and 9
the Streets and Utilities Committee to discuss a way to ensure that future street projects do not 10
cause issues with the parks. The Parks Commission does not feel that any additional parking is 11
necessary and they are recommending that the City does not include it in the street project. 12
13
Council Member Mueller said that there was concern with barrier curbs that they would cause 14
traffic congestion. She then said that she would like to have the residents on Greenwood, 15
Hillview and Long Lake Road come to the work session to discuss this parking issue. 16
17
The Park Commission representative commented that residents that live on Hillview felt that 18
existing parking is adequate. The traffic issues are when the first teams are leaving and the next 19
teams are coming and that is about 30 nights per summer. 20
21
Clerk Administrator Ericson noted he attended the North Metro Mayor’s Association meeting 22
and received updates from other metro counties. 23
24
Clerk Administrator Ericson noted that the Chamber is interested in leasing out the office they 25
had previously leased, and they are exploring the option of picking up the second office space as 26
well. 27
28
Clerk Administrator Ericson said that he met with Springsted for three hours to discuss the HAY 29
points for the positions that the City has to arrive at an appropriate wage. He did note that the 30
salary being advertised for the public works salary is commensurate with other communities in 31
the study area. Staff plans to ask reauthorization to advertise for this position. 32
33
Clerk Administrator Ericson asked Council whether they would like to review the budget before 34
the truth-in-taxation hearing. Council concurred. 35
36
Clerk Administrator Ericson reviewed the items set for the work session. Council agreed to 37
begin at 6:00 p.m. 38
39
1. Quarterly Report for Police Department 40
41
Chief Sommer indicated that they are in the middle of an investigation into the Homicides on 42
Sunnyside Avenue. He then offered to answer questions on the quarterly report. 43
44
Mayor Marty thanked the Chief and other officers for all their efforts on behalf of the City. 45
