2/19/2015 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />For immediate release. <br />The Spring Lake Park, Blaine, Mounds View (SBM) Fire Department is now accepting applications for Volunteer <br />Firefighters. Applications are available for download on our website and must be submitted by 4:00p.m. on Friday, April <br />17th, 2015. <br />The SBM Fire Department seeks motivated and hardworking individuals to join our team of highly trained professionals. <br />The 70 men and women of the SBM Fire Department respond to emergencies 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, year- <br />round. Many work full-time jobs, have families, own businesses, coach sports, and enjoy weekend trips away. It is all <br />still possible as a Volunteer Firefighter! <br />If you are looking for a unique, challenging, and rewarding way to serve your community – Join the Trusted Few. <br />No previous experience is necessary and all training and equipment will be provided. <br />Successful candidates: <br />• Live within response time requirements to one of our four fire stations <br />• Must be at least 18 years of age <br />• Must hold a valid Driver’s License <br />• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent <br /> <br />Benefits of becoming an SBM Volunteer Firefighter include: <br />• Excellent pension after 10+ years of service <br />• Being a member of a nationally recognized organization <br />• Supplemental Life Insurance <br />• Recruitment bonus after all training is complete <br />• Free annual physicals <br />• Free use of workout facilities <br />• Full medical and injury coverage while on the job <br /> <br />Important dates: <br />• Tuesday March 31st or Wednesday April 1st: 7p.m.-8:30p.m. at Fire Station #3, 11920 Ulysses St. NE in Blaine. <br />An informational session will be held for interested members and their families/significant others. Applicants <br />are invited to attend on either date. (Optional) <br />• Saturday April 18th at the Joint Training Center in Fridley, MN. The Anoka Country Recruitment Expo will be held <br />for applicants to try on firefighting gear, use equipment and practice physical ability skill stations. Please RSVP <br />for this event to secure a timeslot by contacting Maddison Zikmund. (Optional) <br />• Friday April 24th from 4-8pm and Saturday April 25th from 8am-12pm both at the Joint Training Center in <br />Fridley, MN: Physical Ability Evaluations will be held by appointment only and can be scheduled by contacting <br />Maddison Zikmund.
