CITY REQUIREMENTS <br />Anoka No dog or cat shall be kept within city limits unless a license (tag) is obtained. No <br />person shall keep more than three (3) cats, or a mixture of dogs and cats, not to <br />exceed three pets in total, at one residence within the city, except that a fresh little of <br />pups or kittens may be kept for a period of three (3) months. Annual licenses shall <br />be issued by the city clerk upon payment of the fee determined by the council <br />resolution. There are no residential kennel license provisions in their code. <br />Coon Rapids Any person who owns more than three (3) dogs over the age of six months shall be <br />deemed to be operating a kennel and shall require a kennel license. A kennel <br />license may be issued only by action of the City Council. The initial issuance of a <br />kennel shall require a special use permit and the procedure shall be the same as <br />that followed for the issuance of a special use permit. All dogs and cats are required <br />to be licensed (tag). <br />Falcon Heights No person may maintain a kennel within the City. Four (4) or more of any type of <br />domestic pets over four (4) months old constitute a kennel. Falcon Heights does not <br />require dogs or cats to be licensed. All dogs and cats older than six (6) months must <br />be vaccinated against rabies and the rabies vaccination tags provided by the <br />veterinarian must be affixed to the animal’s collar. <br />Ham Lake <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />For residential lots containing between one acre and 2.5 acres, a maximum of four <br />dogs is allowed. For lots in excess of 2.5 acres, a maximum of six dogs will be <br />allowed. No exceptions. <br />Lauderdale Lauderdale only allows kennels for veterinary clinics. Residents are only allowed <br />two (2) dogs – no exceptions. <br />Lino Lakes Any person who owns, keeps or allows the keeping of more than three dogs over six <br />(6) months of age on any parcel of land must first acquire a kennel license from the <br />City. An application for a private kennel license must be submitted to the Police <br />Department accompanied by the fee established by City Council ordinance. Each <br />dog over six months of age is required to have an individual dog license (tag). A <br />minimum of one (1) acre of land is required to obtain a private kennel license in any <br />zoning district. A private kennel is limited to a maximum of four (4) dogs. There are <br />no provisions that require residents to acquire a petition from their neighbors. <br />Little Canada Little Canada allows 3 dogs per resident. Little Canada just does allow a fourth dog if <br />all four animals are register Pet Therapy Animals. No exceptions. <br />Maplewood Residential property owners are allowed 2 dogs and 2 cats. The third animal <br />requires a kennel license to be submitted to the City Clerk. <br />Mendota Heights The City allows 3 dogs per residential property. They do not allow kennels. <br />Mound Not more than 3 dogs/cats over six months of age shall be kept on any one <br />premises. No Kennel License. <br />New Brighton Similar to Falcon Heights, the City does not have dog licensing and do not allow <br />kennel licenses. Residents are required to have their pets vaccinated against <br />rabies. The City only allows 3 dogs per property. <br />Oakdale The City allows a combined total of three (3) dogs or cats. If a resident wants more <br />dogs/cats, then the resident must apply for a special use permit, which includes <br />obtaining petition signatures from neighbors for approval. <br />Roseville <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />All dogs are required to be licensed (tag). No person shall maintain a kennel (more <br />than two dogs over the age of three months of age), without first securing a license. <br />Kennel restriction shall not apply to veterinary hospitals. There were no provisions <br />found in their City Code that require residents to acquire a petition (signatures) from <br />their neighbors. <br />Shoreview No person shall keep more than 3 dogs, 3 cats, 3 Vietnamese Pot Bellied Pigs or 4 <br />chickens on residentially zoned property. The total number of combined licensed <br />animals per residentially zoned property shall not exceed 4, with chickens <br />considered as 1 licensed animal.
