Mounds View City Council May 22, 2017 <br />Regular Meeting Page 8 <br /> <br /> Ayes – 4 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 1 <br /> 2 <br />10. REPORTS 3 <br />A. Reports of Mayor and Council. 4 <br /> 5 <br />Council Member Gunn reported on Thursday, May 18th she and Council Member Meehlhause 6 <br />attended the Law Enforcement Memorial Service in New Brighton. She stated this was a very 7 <br />moving service and was pleased to report the City of Mounds View would be hosting this event 8 <br />in 2019. 9 <br /> 10 <br />Council Member Meehlhause agreed this was a great event. He stated he attended a Twin Cities 11 <br />Gateway Board meeting last week where the group discussed hotel taxes being down in the first 12 <br />quarter of 2017 when compared to 2016. It was noted Mounds View hotel taxes were down 8% 13 <br />this year. He commented on how this decrease could impact Twin Cities Gateway’s donation to 14 <br />the City for Festival in the Park. 15 <br /> 16 <br />Council Member Meehlhause stated he would be attending the NSCC. meeting on Thursday, 17 <br />June 1st. He indicated he would be attending a YMCA Advisory Committee meeting on 18 <br />Monday, June 5th. He then reviewed the NYFS meetings he would be attending in early June on 19 <br />behalf of the City. 20 <br /> 21 <br />Mayor Mueller reported the Festival in the Park Committee would be meeting next on Tuesday, 22 <br />June 20th at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall. She stated this group was still seeking volunteers to assist 23 <br />with this year’s event. She explained volunteers were also needed for the 60th Anniversary 24 <br />Celebration be planned for the City of Mounds View. Those interested in volunteering their time 25 <br />were encouraged to contact City Hall for further information. 26 <br /> 27 <br />Mayor Mueller stated on Friday, June 2nd the Minnesota Women in Government would be 28 <br />meeting to review the nominations for Outstanding Women in Elected City Government. She 29 <br />reported these awards would be presented at the League of Minnesota Cities Conference in 30 <br />Rochester, Minnesota. She was pleased that Mounds View would be sending five 31 <br />representatives from the City to this event. 32 <br /> 33 <br />Mayor Mueller indicated the Ramsey County League of Local Government would be meeting 34 <br />next on Thursday, May 25th at 7:00 p.m. in Maplewood. 35 <br /> 36 <br />Mayor Mueller explained the Five Cities mayor’s group met last Monday in Roseville where the 37 <br />group discussed issues facing each community. 38 <br /> 39 <br />Mayor Mueller encouraged the public to get on the mailing list for the Sun Focus, in order to 40 <br />keep receiving City’s official newspaper. 41 <br /> 42 <br />Mayor Mueller stated Thursday, May 25th was Red Nose Day, which was a great way for the 43 <br />community to give back to children in need. 44 <br /> 45
