MVPD Quarterly Report 3 <br /> 4 <br />Police Chief Harder reviewed the Mounds View Police Department’s first quarter report with the 5 <br />Council. He provided an update on the success of the father daughter ball and was pleased to 6 <br />report there were 300 people that attended the event. He discussed the crime statistics for the 7 <br />first quarter and noted thefts and property crimes were the City’s top crimes. He explained the 8 <br />Police Department would continue its outreach efforts. 9 <br /> 10 <br />Council Member Meehlhause asked where the Police Memorial Event would be held on 11 <br />Thursday, May 18th. Police Chief Harder indicated the event would be held in New Brighton. 12 <br /> 13 <br />Council Member Meehlhause invited all Council Members to attend this wonderful event. 14 <br /> 15 <br />Mayor Mueller questioned if the rise in fraud crimes was related to drug crimes. Police Chief 16 <br />Harder reported this was the case. 17 <br /> 18 <br />Mayor Mueller understood the entire State of Minnesota was addressing the heroin epidemic. 19 <br />She asked if Mounds View Police Officers carried Narcan. Police Chief Harder indicated the 20 <br />Police Department relies on Allina to dispense Narcan. He provided further comment on the 21 <br />benefits of a drug task force officer. 22 <br /> 23 <br />Mayor Mueller asked if the City could share the expense of a drug task force officer with the City 24 <br />of New Brighton. Police Chief Harder did not believe the expense could be shared, but rather the 25 <br />City of Mounds View would require its own officer. 26 <br /> 27 <br />Council Member Gunn questioned if the Police Department had any upcoming events. Police 28 <br />Chief Harder stated the New Americans Academy would be held in June and July. He 29 <br />encouraged all residents of Mounds View to participate in a National Night Out pre-party on 30 <br />Friday, July 21st and again on Tuesday, August 1st. He commented on the success of the local 31 <br />rock wall events. 32 <br /> 33 <br />Mayor Mueller requested further information on the City’s efforts to become a Heart Safe 34 <br />Community. Police Chief Harder stated this initiative was a work in progress and would be 35 <br />promoted at Festival in the Park. 36 <br /> 37 <br />2. Website Update 38 <br /> 39 <br />Business Development Coordinator Beeman provided the Council with an update on the City’s 40 <br />website. He reported staff was working on the site map, data migration and overall website 41 <br />design. He explained staff would be attending training in order to learn how to update and access 42 <br />the new website. 43 <br /> 44
