Mounds View City Council June 26, 2017 <br />Regular Meeting Page 6 <br /> <br />Mayor Mueller explained City Administrator Ericson suffered a medical emergency while hiking 1 <br />in northern Minnesota. She wished him well in his recovery. She commented on a potential 2 <br />work from home policy for Mounds View staff and noted the Council would be reviewing this 3 <br />information at the July worksession meeting. She indicated the Council would not be holding a 4 <br />worksession meeting on Monday, July 3rd, but rather would hold its worksession meeting on 5 <br />Monday, July 17th. 6 <br /> 7 <br />Mayor Mueller encouraged residents to sign up to receive the Sun Focus. She explained this was 8 <br />the City’s official newspaper publication and was available free of charge. 9 <br /> 10 <br /> B. Reports of Staff. 11 <br /> 1. Public Works Department Update 12 <br /> 13 <br />Public Works Director Erickson provided the Council with an update on the projects taking place 14 <br />in the City. He noted the Public Works Facility had most of its footings in place and stated the 15 <br />goal was to have wall panels installed mid-July. He reported streets were recently swept in 16 <br />preparation for the City’s sealcoating project. 17 <br /> 18 <br />Mayor Mueller requested further information from staff on the patches along H2 and Sunnyside 19 <br />Road. Public Works Director Erickson explained there were three patches needed along these 20 <br />roadways. He reported staff had a quote for this work and this would be coming before the City 21 <br />Council at their next meeting. 22 <br /> 23 <br />Public Works Director Erickson explained Jeff __________ and Jim Hess would be retiring after 24 <br />28 and 25 years of service. He recommended that Public Works Supervisor Peterson be asked to 25 <br />serve as the Interim Public Works Director after July 14th. He reported there were no pending 26 <br />projects at this time, and explained that all pay requests would be taken care of before his 27 <br />departure. 28 <br /> 29 <br />Mayor Mueller wanted to be assured that Public Works Supervisor Peterson would have some 30 <br />support after Public Works Director Erickson left the City. He stated he would be reviewing the 31 <br />job descriptions for the staff members that were retiring and would make recommendations to 32 <br />City Administrator Ericson. 33 <br /> 34 <br />Council Member Meehlhause thanked Public Works Director Erickson for his service to the 35 <br />community and stated he was very pleased to have Public Works Supervisor Don Peterson on 36 <br />staff to step in and assist the City of Mounds View until a Public Works Director was hired. 37 <br /> 38 <br />Mayor Mueller thanked Public Works Director Erickson for his dedicated service to the City of 39 <br />Mounds View. Public Works Director Erickson stated he has greatly enjoyed his time working 40 <br />for this community. 41 <br /> 42 <br />Assistant City Administrator Crane reported City Administrator Ericson was on medical leave 43 <br />until further notice. She wished him a speedy and pain free recovery. 44 <br /> 45
