<br />Public Works Supervisor Position Description Page 1/6 <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />POSITION DESCRIPTION <br /> <br />Position Title: Public Works Supervisor <br />Department: Public Works - Operation and Maintenance Division <br />Accountable to: Director of Public Works <br />Status: Exempt <br /> <br />PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITON <br />Under the guidance and supervisiongeneral direction of the Public Works Director, this position <br />is responsible to proactively supervise operation and maintenance division personnel and <br />effectively implement work plans for the reliable and long-term operation, maintenance, and <br />repair of all City-owned infrastructure involving drinking water supply and wastewater collection <br />systems; streets and trails; stormwater conveyance and treatment systems; vehicles and <br />equipment; and the public works facility.provide leadership, direction, coordination, planning, <br />development, and administration of a comprehensive operational and maintenance program <br />including equipment, facilities, streets, public ways, water, sanitary sewer and storm sewer <br />systems in a manner that will ensure the highest level and efficient means of service in the <br />Public Works Department. <br /> <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />This position is supervised by and W works under the general guidance and direction of the <br />Public Works Director. <br /> <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />Direct supervision over all assigned Public Works operation and maintenance (O&M) division <br />personnel in the Public Works Department, including other O&M division personnel assigned to <br />the Parks Supervisor in his/her absence. This includes Parks Employees in the absence of the <br />Parks SupervisorThis position will assume the duties of the Public Works Director during short- <br />term absences of the Director. <br /> <br />ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES <br />Assumes duties of Public Works Director during absence of Public Works Director <br /> Assign and provide work direction and technical assistance to maintenance personnel <br />including resolving problems on a daily basis to accomplish the overall work schedule, <br />making the best possible use of manpower, materials, and equipment, to carry out <br />established division priorities and work plans as directed by the Public Works Director.Directs <br />and supervises activities of all areas of the Public Works Department (Streets, Utilities, <br />Garage) to ensure that adequate services are being provided to City residents and other <br />parties of interest. <br /> Plan, organize, and prioritize O&M division activities and oversee maintenance personnel to <br />ensure work activities are completed in a professional, timely, efficient, and cost-effective <br />manner. <br />Recommends, interprets, implements policies, rules and procedures for Public Works <br />Department in order to implement directives from the City Council, City Administrator and <br />Public Works Director.
