LOCAL GOVERNI`.^ENT AID (LGAI <br />A portion of the State sales tax revenues which are paid <br />directly to the City to assist in paying for general fund <br />operations. Two (2) percent of the 6.5% sales tax paid on <br />goods and services is dedicated to fund all State aid <br />programs to cities, schools, counties and other local <br />government entities. LGA is a revenue that is paid directly <br />to the City. <br />TAX LEVY <br />The total amount of money to be raised by property taxes <br />to pay for City services and programs. The total tax levy <br />certified to the County is offset by the following "non - <br />revenue State programs - the funds from these programs <br />are not paid directly to the City, but rather are deducted <br />from the total levy to reduce the total tax burden on the <br />property owner: <br />HOMESTEAD AND AGRICULTURE CREDIT AID (HACAI <br />State aid paid directly to cities to compensate cities for the <br />decreased tax revenues which result when the State <br />reduces a property class rate on a particular category of <br />property ( i. e., commercial/industrial property) rather than <br />shift the increased tax burden to the other properties in the <br />taxing area (residential). However, not all reductions are <br />paid for by HACA aid. It is formula based and subject to <br />State reductions in times of State financial shortfalls. <br />
