AGREEMENT <br /> BETWEEN <br /> CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br /> AND <br /> MOUNDS VIEW INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT #621 <br /> FOR FUNDING OF THE DARE PROGRAM <br /> This Agreement is between City of Mounds View (hereinafter referred <br /> to as "City") and Mounds View Independent School District #621 <br /> (hereinafter referred to as "School District") . <br /> WHEREAS, City is providing the Drug Abuse Resistance Education <br /> (D.A.R.E. ) program to the public and private schools in the School <br /> District; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Minnesota Statutes Section 275, 125, Subd 6j , <br /> school districts are authorized to levy $1 per capita to be used to <br /> reimburse cities and counties contracting with school districts for <br /> certain services, including teaching drug abuse resistance <br /> education in the elementary schools; and <br /> WHEREAS, School District has determined that the levy funds be used <br /> to reimburse City for the salaries of City DARE officers; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, City and School District agree as follows: <br /> A. SCOPE OF SERVICES-CITY <br /> 1. City will provide the 17 week core DARE program, consistent <br /> with the nationally recognized D.A.R. E. program, to the public and <br /> private schools in the School District. <br /> 2 . In conjunction with the provision of DARE services to School <br /> District, City shall: <br /> a. ensure that a certified DARE instructor will be available <br /> to instruct at scheduled presentation times, including the <br /> pro ision_of a substitute instructor. <br /> b. meet with School District's representatives to evaluate <br /> program needs. <br /> c. ensure that DARE instructors are appropriately attired <br /> and present a professional, image. <br /> d. select the best candidates available for assignment to <br /> Project DARE. <br /> e. commit the DARE instructor to provide orientation to <br /> classroom teachers. <br /> f. commit the DARE instructor to meet with parent <br /> organizations. <br /> g. abstain from having DARE officers perform enforcement <br /> duties while on school grounds except in cases of emergency. <br /> h. allow the DARE instructor time to prepare for classroom <br /> presentations and review assignments. <br /> i. allow the instructor time for informal interaction with <br /> A <br />
