DEPARTMENTAL BUDGET NARRATIVE <br /> FUND: General <br /> DEPARTMENT: Administration <br /> DEPARTMENT OBJECTIVE <br /> The objective of the Administrative Department is to provide the day-to-day leadership <br /> and management of the City's operations so as to implement City Council policies and <br /> provide efficient and effective municipal services_ <br /> DEPARTMENT ACTIV1'11ES <br /> The Administration Department encompasses the duties and responsibilities of the City <br /> Administrator and those assigned by the City Council and City Code. Activities include: <br /> personnel administration, public relations, internal and external communication and <br /> informational programs, coordination of all economic development activities, municipal <br /> records management, inter-governmental relations, staff development, and monitoring <br /> and analysis of all legislation affecting municipal operations. <br /> DEPARTMENT GOALS <br /> The goals of the Administration Department are established by Council directives and <br /> the goals and objectives developed at the Council/Staff Goalsetting session. Special <br /> attention will be given in 1993 to the following goals: <br /> 1. Direct the development of the Municipal Golf Course <br /> 2. Expansion-of economic-developm_en_t opportunities th ou h the establishment of <br /> housing rehabilitation programs and economic redevelopment opportunities <br /> through the City's Housing and Redevelopment Authority/Economic - <br /> Development Commission. <br /> 3. Complete first year of a two-year Staff Training and Professional <br /> Development Program <br /> 4. Continue to develop strategies and programs designed to enhance City's <br /> financial stability and independence from external source. <br /> 5. Continued participation in the inter-governmental organizations and overall <br /> activities related to the issues of Local Government Aid allocation and <br /> distribution. <br />
