Mounds View City Council January 8, 2007 <br />Regular Meeting Page 4 <br /> <br />Council Member Mueller said that there is a possibility that this property owner could purchase 1 <br />additional property from the neighboring property in the future. She then said that she sees a 2 <br />resident who takes care of his property and is attempting to expand the garage to store his boat 3 <br />inside and she supports his request to expand the garage to protect his investment. 4 <br /> 5 <br />Planning Associate Heller indicated that the neighbor to the north is over 100 feet off the 6 <br />property line. 7 <br /> 8 <br />Mayor Marty indicated that the question before Council is the oversized garage of 1,124 square 9 <br />feet. He then said he has no issue with the resident wanting to improve the property to keep the 10 <br />boat inside but he is concerned with the setback. He further said that he will reluctantly go along 11 <br />with this, as it was the recommendation of the Planning Commission. 12 <br /> 13 <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 14 <br /> 15 <br /> 16 <br /> B. Public Hearing, Second Reading and Adoption of Ordinance 782, an 17 <br /> Ordinance Amending Section 7.10 of the Mounds View City Charter 18 <br /> Pertaining to Indebtedness 19 <br /> 20 <br />City Administrator Ulrich explained that the first reading of this Ordinance was on December 11, 21 <br />2006. He then said that, if unanimously approved by Council, this Ordinance would go into 22 <br />effect 90 days from the date of the approval. 23 <br /> 24 <br />Mayor Marty opened the public hearing. 25 <br /> 26 <br />There were no public comments. 27 <br /> 28 <br />Mayor Marty closed the public hearing. 29 <br /> 30 <br />Council Member Mueller indicated that she worked on this amendment and said she would be 31 <br />able to provide comment and explanation, if necessary. She then asked whether she should 32 <br />abstain from the vote. 33 <br /> 34 <br />Mayor Marty explained that a unanimous vote of Council is required for approval and he sees no 35 <br />reason why it would be necessary to abstain since this is merely a language clarification. 36 <br /> 37 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Stigney/Flaherty.
