Mounds View City Council March 12, 2007 <br />Regular Meeting Page 5 <br /> <br />Fire Chief Zikmund addressed Council and explained the Fire Department’s request for a Mobile 1 <br />Command and Communication Vehicle for the Fire Department. 2 <br /> 3 <br />Chief Zikmund explained that they had visited the manufacturer’s site and feel confident that the 4 <br />vehicle will meet the needs of the Fire Department. 5 <br /> 6 <br />Council Member Mueller asked what the primary function of a Chemical Assessment Team is. 7 <br /> 8 <br />Chief Zikmund explained that the command and communication van is a tool that will be used by 9 <br />whomever is in charge of the emergency scene be it police or fire. 10 <br /> 11 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Mueller/Marty. To Waive the Reading and Approve Resolution 7038, A 12 <br />Resolution Approving the Purchase of a Mobile Command and Communication Vehicle for the 13 <br />SBM Fire Department. 14 <br /> 15 <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 16 <br /> 17 <br /> D. Resolution 7039, a Resolution Approving the SBM Fire Department, in 18 <br /> Cooperation with the Coon Rapids and Fridley Fire Departments in 19 <br /> Submitting a Proposal to the State of Minnesota Department of Public Safety 20 <br /> to Continue in the Role as one of the Chemical Assessment Teams 21 <br /> 22 <br />Fire Chief Zikmund explained that the SBM Fire Department would like to remain one of the 23 <br />Chemical Assessment Teams and would like authority to work with the cities of Coon Rapids 24 <br />and Fridley to submit a proposal to the State of Minnesota to continue this role. 25 <br /> 26 <br />Fire Chief Zikmund provided an explanation of the types of equipment on the chemical 27 <br />assessment truck and explained that the truck is rotated with Coon Rapids and SBM. 28 <br /> 29 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Mueller/Flaherty.
