Mounds View City Council March 12, 2007 <br />Regular Meeting Page 4 <br /> <br /> 1 <br />Mr. Anderson indicated that based on previous history with this property owner he is confident 2 <br />that they are aware of the ramifications of this action. 3 <br /> 4 <br />Council Member Flaherty said he would like Staff to make personal contact with the property 5 <br />owner to ensure that they are aware. 6 <br /> 7 <br />Mayor Marty indicated that this is the third year in a row so it appears to be habitual and this 8 <br />takes up Staff time. He then asked if there is anything else the City can do to prevent the issue 9 <br />from continuing to happen. 10 <br /> 11 <br />Mr. Anderson indicated that Staff is working on some options for a graduated fee schedule that 12 <br />will be brought to Council for consideration. 13 <br /> 14 <br />Council Member Stigney asked when official notification is given to the property owner. 15 <br /> 16 <br />Mr. Anderson indicated that he will drive out to the home and try to make direct contact and then 17 <br />mail them a letter informing them. 18 <br /> 19 <br />Council Member Stigney would like to know how many days until the City abates the nuisance 20 <br />and he would like to give the property owner a certain number of days to abate the issue before 21 <br />the City does it. 22 <br /> 23 <br />Mr. Anderson said that if the resident makes contact with Staff and presents a reasonable plan of 24 <br />action to abate the issues at the property then Staff would be willing to work with them on that. 25 <br /> 26 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Mueller/Hull. To Waive the Reading and Approve Resolution 7030, 27 <br />Authorizing the Exterior Property Abatement at 2263 County Road H2 as Amended. 28 <br /> 29 <br />Council Member Mueller asked if it seems that someone is living at the home or does it appear 30 <br />that they are not living there or are on vacation. 31 <br /> 32 <br />Mr. Anderson explained that they leave a notice on the door and the next day when driving by the 33 <br />notice is gone. 34 <br /> 35 <br />Council Member Flaherty suggested no sooner than five calendar days and not later than 10 days 36 <br />to allow the City time to contact the resident. 37 <br /> 38 <br />The Motion and Second agreed to the amendment. 39 <br /> 40 <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 41 <br /> 42 <br /> C.
