He then asked Staff to inform this property owner about the grant funding 5 possibility to make it more appealing. 6 7 6. SPECIAL ORDER OF BUISNESS 8 9 None. 10 11 7. COUNCIL BUSINESS 12 13 A. Resolution 7047 Approving an Off Sale 3.2 Malt Liquor License for Aldi 14 Foods located at 2537 County Highway 10 in Mounds View 15 16 Assistant to the Administrator Crane addressed Council and explained that Aldi Foods will be 17 opening May 1, 2007 and has requested a 3.2 Malt Liquor License. She then reviewed the 18 investigations conducted and the Staff recommendation. 19 20 Council Member Stigney asked whether there is a concern for liquor sales when the daycare and 21 church are located in such close proximity. 22 23 Assistant to the Administrator Crane indicated she saw no issue with the Code but could look 24 again. 25 26 Council Member Stigney said that the gas station was not allowed to have a liquor license due to 27 its proximity to the Church and daycare. 28 29 Director Ericson read from the Code concerning liquor licensing and asked the City Attorney to 30 review it. 31 32 City Attorney Riggs indicated that Section D would apply which would be the 500 foot 33 requirement. 34 35 MOTION/SECOND: Stigney/Hull. To Postpone Resolution 7047 to the Next Council Meeting 36 to Resolve the Issue of Distance from the Church. 37 38 Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 39 40 B.
