Resolution 7073, Approving Hiring William Hanggi as a Part-time Seasonal 1 <br /> Employee and Setting a Wage for Returning Seasonal Employees in Public 2 <br /> Works 3 <br /> 4 <br />Public Works Director Lee addressed Council and explained that the 2007 Seasonal Public 5 <br />Works Positions were approved with one issue being advertising for part time seasonal workers 6 <br />and the second issue being the wage for returning part time seasonal workers. 7 <br /> 8 <br />Director Lee pointed out that this is a part time position and Mr. Hanggi would work, on average, 9 <br />three days per week and the position would terminate in six months. The position has no benefits 10 <br />and the wage recommendation is $12.50 per hour. 11 <br /> 12 <br />Director Lee noted that Staff had provided information on returning seasonal workers from other 13 <br />cities. He then said that 37 applications were received for the 10 positions available and, 14 <br />historically, there have been only 11 applications for 10 positions. He then recommended 15 <br />approval of $11.50 for returning seasonal workers. 16 <br /> 17 <br />Council Member Mueller said she would like to separate the two things out rather than doing 18 <br />them at the same time. 19 <br /> 20 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Mueller/Flaherty. To Waive the Reading and Approve Resolution 7073A 21 <br />Hiring William Hanggi as a Part Time Seasonal Returning Employee at $12.50 Per Hour. 22 <br /> 23 <br />Council Member Flaherty asked what makes Mr. Hanggi different from the other seasonal 24 <br />employees. 25 <br /> 26 <br />Director Lee explained that this is somewhat different as it is a part time seasonal position and 27 <br />the others are full time seasonal. 28 <br /> 29 <br />Director Lee explained that Staff would be using Mr. Hanggi’s wealth of knowledge and 30 <br />experience to train existing employees. 31 <br /> 32 <br />Acting Mayor Stigney requested that the $12.50 wage be added to the motion. He then said that 33 <br />Mounds View is ahead of the game with what other cities are paying. He further said that this is 34 <br />up to 10 and he would like Mr. Hangii to be considered one of the 10 not an addition to the 10. 35 <br /> 36 <br /> Ayes – 4 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 37 <br /> 38 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Mueller/Flaherty.
