Police Department 1st Quarter 2007 Report 3 <br /> 4 <br />Chief Sommer reviewed his first quarter report with Council. 5 <br /> 6 <br />Council Member Flaherty said that the department has used 82% of the budget for overtime. 7 <br /> 8 <br />Finance Director Beer indicated that in the past Staff has reported weekly over time but also 9 <br />included is holiday overtime. He then said that they will work with the Chief on that. 10 <br /> 11 <br />Mayor Marty asked whether any of this would be recoverable through fines or citations or 12 <br />anything. 13 <br /> 14 <br />Council Member Flaherty said that he is glad to see that the officers are receiving training. 15 <br /> 16 <br />Council Member Mueller asked how many cameras there are in the City helping with 17 <br />surveillance. 18 <br /> 19 <br />Chief Sommer indicated that there are two currently and they have ordered a third. 20 <br /> 21 <br />Council Member Mueller asked about forfeiture. 22 <br /> 23 <br />Chief Sommer indicated that there is a course that he is going to attend. 24 <br /> 25 <br />Chief Sommer indicated that they will be participating in the Torch Run for the Special 26 <br />Olympics and it goes through the City on June 21, 2007. 27 <br /> 28 <br />Mayor Marty said that since the first of the year residents have come in to complain about 29 <br />various matters and he thinks that the Department, Chief and the Officers are doing an excellent 30 <br />job on behalf of the City. He then said that he has received calls from the Pinewood School area 31 <br />residents who are grateful that parking has been better in that area. 32 <br /> 33 <br />Council Member Mueller mentioned that the Mounds View Matters July/August Edition is out. 34 <br />If you would like to volunteer at the Festival in the Park celebration there is information on 35 <br />volunteering in it. The winning entry of the Design a T-Shirt Contest was Noelle Manicka and 36 <br />her design will be sent to the printer to be put on the t-shirts. 37 <br /> 38 <br />Mayor Marty asked if there was any further research into offering City shirts or sweatshirts 39 <br />available. 40 <br /> 41 <br />City Administrator Ulrich indicated that Staff is gathering quotes and samples for consideration. 42 <br /> 43 <br />City Administrator Ulrich said that the application date for the Economic Development 44 <br />Coordinator has past and 18 applications were received and are being reviewed by Staff. 45
