Mounds View City Council September 24, 2007 <br />Regular Meeting Page 15 <br /> <br />Interim Administrator Ericson indicated that Staff has discussed this matter with the City 1 <br />Attorney’s office, and there appears to not be any state licensing requirement. 2 <br /> 3 <br />Council Member Stigney indicated that he has not seen the affidavit of providing therapeutic 4 <br />massage, and it seems ridiculous to rely on a statement of the applicant. 5 <br /> 6 <br />Interim Administrator Ericson said that Staff is working on some revisions to the Code to firm up 7 <br />the requirements, and those recommendations will come before Council at an upcoming work 8 <br />session. 9 <br /> 10 <br />Council Member Stigney indicated that he would like to ask for validation of this affidavit. 11 <br /> 12 <br />Attorney Riggs indicated that this is not a business regulated by the State, so it would be fine to 13 <br />incorporate changes to the Code to allow Staff to verify. 14 <br /> 15 <br />Council Member Mueller asked whether the background check included her recent location in 16 <br />California. 17 <br /> 18 <br />Staff explained that a thorough background check is conducted. 19 <br /> 20 <br />Mayor Marty noted that therapeutic massage licensing is on the next work session Agenda. 21 <br /> 22 <br />Interim Administrator Ericson suggested adding verification of Affidavit as a requirement of 23 <br />approval. 24 <br /> 25 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Stigney/Mueller.
