Mounds View City Council October 22, 2007 <br />Regular Meeting Page 16 <br /> <br />other necessary permits and requirements. They thanked the Mounds View Community Center 1 <br />Staff. 2 <br /> 3 <br />Mayor Marty noted that October was Crime Prevention Month and said that crime is down 4 <br />nationwide this year. 5 <br /> 6 <br />Mayor Marty noted that Active Living Ramsey County is looking for a Mounds View 7 <br />representative as they have formed a new group that will meet November 15, 2007. He then 8 <br />asked to add this to a work session to work on finding someone to represent the City. 9 <br /> 10 <br />Council Member Flaherty reported that there was a YMCA meeting where they discussed the fall 11 <br />programs. 12 <br /> 13 <br />Council Member Mueller said that there is a lot of time this fall and winter to book social 14 <br />occasions at the Community Center. 15 <br /> 16 <br />Mayor Marty said that he is wondering if the fees should be raised for non-residents. 17 <br /> 18 <br />Staff is looking into that. 19 <br /> 20 <br />Council Member Mueller reported that the Irondale Marching Knights came in first place at a 21 <br />statewide competition and placed fifth overall in St. Louis, Missouri. 22 <br /> 23 <br /> B. Reports of Staff 24 <br /> 1. Xcel Energy Gas Main Permit Update 25 <br /> 26 <br />Public Works Director Lee explained that the right of way has been staked, utility locates have 27 <br />been done, and materials have begun arriving. Xcel has paid all fees and security as required 28 <br />through the permitting process and anticipates starting the work as soon as minor issues are 29 <br />resolved. County Road 10 is planned first and then they intend to move up Greenwood. 30 <br />Restoration is planned for the spring of 2008. 31 <br /> 32 <br />Director Lee indicated that Xcel would need to acquire two easements from the City and Staff is 33 <br />working with legal counsel on that. 34 <br /> 35 <br />Director Lee indicated that Xcel has requested input from Council on the proposed screening for 36 <br />the valve. 37 <br /> 38 <br />Mayor Marty asked Staff to have Xcel come to the work session on November 5, 2007. 39 <br /> 40 <br />Council Member Mueller asked whether there would be tree removal on any of the easements. 41 <br /> 42 <br />Director Lee indicated that there should not be any need for tree removal as they intend to use a 43 <br />jacking technique. 44 <br /> 45
