Presentation by Senator Betzold regarding the upcoming 2006 Legislative 35 <br />Session 36 <br /> 37 <br />Mayor Marty welcomed Senator Don Betzold. 38 <br /> 39 <br />Senator Don Betzold stated the legislative session will start on March 1, 2006 and pointed out 40 <br />that it is not a budget year. He noted that the budget forecast that came out in November 41 <br />predicted there would be a $700 million surplus for the time period ending June 30, 2007. He 42 <br />stated this is not really there because of delayed payments to the school districts. He stated the 43 <br />law says that the surplus must go back to paying school districts on time.
