Mounds View City Council February 13, 2006 Regular Meeting Page 13 Director of Public Works Lee explained that there are minor adjustments, considered 1 Architectural Supplemental Information (ASIs), required for the City Hall Rehabilitation Project. 2 He stated these items are prevalent in remodel projects. He reviewed Change Orders 1-3 and 3 three additional contracts for network cabling, communication cabling and security card reading 4 system. He stated it is recommended the Council approve Change Orders 1-3 and authorize three 5 additional contracts for the City Hall Rehabilitation Project. 6 7 Councilmember Flaherty stated he does not like the words that it is inevitable that there will be 8 additional costs. He asked what happened to the old punch keypad in the old building. 9 10 Director of Public Works Lee stated the contractor accidentally removed the punch pad system 11 off the door when the doors were removed in the old building. 12 13 Mayor Marty stated the system will be located on both entrances of the Police Department. He 14 stated these are necessary items to put in and will still remain within budget. 15 16 MOTION/SECOND: THOMAS/FLAHERTY. To waive the reading and adopt Resolution 6736 17 Approving Change Orders No. 1-3 and Authorizing a Contract for Network Cabling for the City 18 Hall Rehabilitation Project. 19 20 Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 21 22 H. Reconsideration of Resolution 6726 Awarding a Contract for the Installation 23 of a Security Card Reading System at City Hall and the Community Center 24 25 Director of Public Works Lee reviewed that the City Council approved Resolution 6726 26 awarding a contract for the installation of a security card reading system at City Hall and the 27 Community Center. He noted at the Work Session, a request was made to bring this item back 28 for reconsideration. He explained other cities were contacted to see how their security card 29 reading system worked. He stated staff is looking for direction on whether the City Council is 30 interested in reconsidering their vote on this resolution. 31 32 Councilmember Flaherty asked if the system would be installed at the main entrance doors of 33 City Hall and two of the doors at the Community Center. Director of Public Works Lee stated 34 they were. 35 36 Councilmember Flaherty asked if the cards work on interior doors. Director of Public Works Lee 37 stated the proposal is just for the outside entrances. 38 39 Councilmember Flaherty asked if the interior security doors will be a key. Director of Public 40 Works Lee stated they would be. 41 42 Councilmember Thomas stated there continues to be frustration even if there was not the expense 43 of keypads at doors. She stated that while everything is tore up, wires should be put in the 44 building for potential future use. 45
