Mounds View City Council February 13, 2006 <br />Regular Meeting Page 13 <br /> <br />Director of Public Works Lee explained that there are minor adjustments, considered 1 <br />Architectural Supplemental Information (ASIs), required for the City Hall Rehabilitation Project. 2 <br />He stated these items are prevalent in remodel projects. He reviewed Change Orders 1-3 and 3 <br />three additional contracts for network cabling, communication cabling and security card reading 4 <br />system. He stated it is recommended the Council approve Change Orders 1-3 and authorize three 5 <br />additional contracts for the City Hall Rehabilitation Project. 6 <br /> 7 <br />Councilmember Flaherty stated he does not like the words that it is inevitable that there will be 8 <br />additional costs. He asked what happened to the old punch keypad in the old building. 9 <br /> 10 <br />Director of Public Works Lee stated the contractor accidentally removed the punch pad system 11 <br />off the door when the doors were removed in the old building. 12 <br /> 13 <br />Mayor Marty stated the system will be located on both entrances of the Police Department. He 14 <br />stated these are necessary items to put in and will still remain within budget. 15 <br /> 16 <br />MOTION/SECOND: THOMAS/FLAHERTY. To waive the reading and adopt Resolution 6736 17 <br />Approving Change Orders No. 1-3 and Authorizing a Contract for Network Cabling for the City 18 <br />Hall Rehabilitation Project. 19 <br /> 20 <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 21 <br /> 22 <br />H. Reconsideration of Resolution 6726 Awarding a Contract for the Installation 23 <br />of a Security Card Reading System at City Hall and the Community Center 24 <br /> 25 <br />Director of Public Works Lee reviewed that the City Council approved Resolution 6726 26 <br />awarding a contract for the installation of a security card reading system at City Hall and the 27 <br />Community Center. He noted at the Work Session, a request was made to bring this item back 28 <br />for reconsideration. He explained other cities were contacted to see how their security card 29 <br />reading system worked. He stated staff is looking for direction on whether the City Council is 30 <br />interested in reconsidering their vote on this resolution. 31 <br /> 32 <br />Councilmember Flaherty asked if the system would be installed at the main entrance doors of 33 <br />City Hall and two of the doors at the Community Center. Director of Public Works Lee stated 34 <br />they were. 35 <br /> 36 <br />Councilmember Flaherty asked if the cards work on interior doors. Director of Public Works Lee 37 <br />stated the proposal is just for the outside entrances. 38 <br /> 39 <br />Councilmember Flaherty asked if the interior security doors will be a key. Director of Public 40 <br />Works Lee stated they would be. 41 <br /> 42 <br />Councilmember Thomas stated there continues to be frustration even if there was not the expense 43 <br />of keypads at doors. She stated that while everything is tore up, wires should be put in the 44 <br />building for potential future use. 45
