Mounds View City Council February 13, 2006 <br />Regular Meeting Page 16 <br /> <br />Director of Public Works Lee encouraged letters of support from citizens groups such as school 1 <br />districts, seniors groups, Parks and Recreation Commission, Rotary Club, Lions Club, etc. 2 <br /> 3 <br />Mayor Marty stated an effort should be made to contact someone at each group to get a letter 4 <br />from them. He stressed that more letters from different organizations and groups will show 5 <br />support from the community in support of this. 6 <br /> 7 <br />Director of Public Works Lee stated the grant is a maximum of $100,000 with matching City 8 <br />funds. 9 <br /> 10 <br />MOTION/SECOND: GUNN/FLAHERTY. To waive the reading and adopt Resolution 6737 11 <br />Supporting the County Road 10 Trailway Project and Consequent Department of Natural 12 <br />Resources Trailway Grant Application. 13 <br /> 14 <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 15 <br /> 16 <br />K. Resolution 6741 Setting a Public Improvement Hearing Date for the Silver 17 <br />Lake Road Sidewalk Project 18 <br /> 19 <br />Director of Public Works Lee stated the City Council authorized the preparation of a Preliminary 20 <br />Feasibility Report and consultant selection for the Silver Lake Road Sidewalk Project. He 21 <br />explained this project is to construct a 6½-foot wide concrete sidewalk along Silver Lake Road, 22 <br />from County Road H to County Road I. He noted the construction of this sidewalk is consistent 23 <br />with City’s Comprehensive Trail and Sidewalk Plan. Director of Public Works Lee stated it is 24 <br />recommended the City Council approve a resolution setting a Public Improvement Hearing date 25 <br />for the Silver Lake Road Sidewalk Project. 26 <br /> 27 <br />Director of Public Works Lee stated February 27, 2006 will be the date of the public hearing, and 28 <br />that information will be put on the website for interested parties to learn more about the project. 29 <br /> 30 <br />Director of Public Works Lee stated there were 17 people in attendance at the neighborhood 31 <br />meeting with positive support for a sidewalk along the corridor. He stated the main question was 32 <br />if the sidewalk should be on the east or west side of Silver Lake Road. He explained the 33 <br />feedback has not been received regarding what side the sidewalk should be on from those who 34 <br />attended the neighborhood meeting. 35 <br /> 36 <br />Brian Amundsen, 3048 Wooddale Drive, stated he works with school district on bussing issues 37 <br />and noted that students are walking along this part of Silver Lake Road. He stated the City 38 <br />should work with the school district to maximize safety with students using sidewalk. 39 <br /> 40 <br />MOTION/SECOND: MARTY/STIGNEY.
