REQUEST FOR COUNCIL CONSIDERATION Agenda Section: Item 12
111106
STAFF REPORT Report Number: 91-18A
NEW May 6, 1991 ReportpDate: M'a h 1991
AGENDA SESSION DATE Y
•
DISPOSITION
Item Description: Bronson Drive Reconstruction - New Water Treatment Plant
Administrator's Review/Recommendation: , n
- No comments to supplement this report
- Comments attached.
Explanation/Summary (attach supplement sheets as necessary.)
,SUMMARY;
As a part of the new water treatment plant construction, a new water
main in Bronson Drive between Long Lake Road and Edgewood Drive is
proposed. There is no existing water main in this location. This will,
improve the efficiency of pumping water out of the reservoir,
treatment plant, or water tower and into the overall distribution
system. It will also allow service of the Public Works Shops facility
with treated water.
The construction of this water main will disturb approximately two-
thirds of the surface of Bronson Drive. It is recommended that for
this reason Bronson Drive be reconstructed at this time. The pavement
can be increased to provide a 10 ton route past the shops facility. It
is also recommended to provide curb and gutter as well as curb inlets
(catch basins) to control drainage. The road would also be widened to
accommodate truck traffic from our shops.
Short-Elliott-Hendrickson is working on the cost estimate which should
will be available before the Agenda Session meeting. The rough
preliminary estimate is $30 , 000 . Additional information will be
presented at the meeting.
•
- -4411111161.
Ric Mi etor
City Engineer/Director of Public Works
R.EC;OMMENDATION:
