Community Development Quarterly Report 2 <br /> 3 <br />Director Ericson reported that it has been a busy quarter for the City. He noted the Medtronic 4 <br />project and stated it is a dominating feature in Mounds View. 5 <br /> 6 <br />Director Ericson noted that in terms of expenditures, the department is currently at 52%, which is 7 <br />less than what would be expected at this point some of which can be explained by personnel 8 <br />vacancies. 9 <br /> 10 <br />Director Ericson stated the department has almost expended the materials and supplies budget. 11 <br />He explained that a couple of items that were purchased were the moisture meter and infrared 12 <br />thermometer. He noted the tools are used on a daily basis. 13 <br /> 14 <br />Director Ericson stated some planning activity has already exceeded the anticipated revenues 15 <br />since the city has been quite busy with planning cases. He stated in addition to the planning 16 <br />cases, there have been many code amendments as well. Keeping staff and the Planning 17 <br />Commission busy. 18 <br /> 19 <br />Director Ericson noted a new full-time temporary building inspector was hired during this period. 20 <br /> 21 <br />Director Ericson also noted that there are several projects underway, including a six-unit 22 <br />subdivision on Woodale and the Dave Regal project in Hidden Hollow - a handicapped-23 <br />accessible home. He explained the City is still waiting for a preliminary site plan for Integra 24 <br />Homes on County Road 10, and that the Red Oak Estates townhome project has begun. 25 <br /> 26 <br />Director Ericson noted the Medtronic commercial and industrial project and that the total permit 27 <br />value of the work is up to $142,994,000. He noted that the final assessed value of the project 28 <br />could very well exceed the original estimations. He stated the City has received $1.5 million 29 <br />already in permit fees and the City has retained $800,000 so far. 30 <br /> 31 <br />Director Ericson also noted Mounds View Square and the project to renovate the facility. He 32 <br />stated the renovation will be done as soon as possible. He added that there will be a grocery store 33 <br />planned for the complex and that it is a very encouraging project. 34 <br /> 35 <br />Director Ericson also noted that up for discussion are plans for the Premium Stop property. 36 <br /> 37 <br />Director Ericson stated that in conclusion, revenues are up, expenditures are down, and it is an 38 <br />exciting time for the City of Mounds View. 39 <br /> 40 <br />Councilmember Stigney asked about the second unenclosed dumpster at Snyder’s. Director 41 <br />Ericson stated it has been removed. 42 <br /> 43 <br />Councilmember Flaherty asked if the complex across the street from Mounds View Square will 44 <br />take note of redesign and follow with their own redesign.
