The first township elections were held on May 11, 1858 <br /> 411 <br /> with John S. Lambert, Charles Perry, Patrick Powers, Thomas <br /> Ryan, Timothy O'Connell, H. T. Buck, Henry McLean, H. C. <br /> Marsden and Peter Sondermann gaining board seats . <br /> In 1891, New Brighton Incorporated to become the first <br /> village to break from the township. The township remained <br /> intact until 1951 when Arden Hills incorporated, followed by <br /> North Oaks in 1956 and Shoreview in 1957 . After these <br /> villages had been formed, residents in the remaining four <br /> square miles voted to annex New Brighton. However, New <br /> Brighton officials turned this plan down. This led to <br /> incorporation of Mounds View Village on April 2, 1958 . Mounds <br /> View's present boundaries are: on the north and west, the <br /> Anoka County line and the suburbs of Blaine, Spring Lake Park <br /> and Fridley; on the south, New Brighton; and on the east <br /> Shoreview and Arden Hills . <br /> • <br /> S <br /> 3 <br />
