47)4.., <br /> !II <br /> MEMORANDUM <br /> Memo To :Mayor and Council Members <br /> From :Ric Minetor, City Engineer/Director of Public Works <br /> Date :January 17, 1991 <br /> C.� <br /> Subject :Projects to be Financed by Proposed Water Bonds <br /> In late 1989 and early 1990 the Council discussed and approved a <br /> number of capital construction projects to be financed by the <br /> sale of revenue bonds by the Water Fund. During 1990 further <br /> discussion regarding the remodeling of Water, Treatment Plant #1 <br /> resulted in a decision that this treatment plant should be moved <br /> to a new building at the corner of Bronson and Edgewood, the <br /> current location of well #3 . At this time we have revised the <br /> cost estimates of the projects to be included and are preparing <br /> for issuance of bonds. At this time I would like to update <br /> Council regarding the projects to be included. Don Brager has <br /> additional information regarding the bond costs and impact on <br /> water rates. <br /> • The projects include all 3 treatment plants, rehabilitation of <br /> well #4, an emergency generator for the booster station, and the <br /> Long Lake Road water main crossing. A description of each of <br /> these follows: <br /> TREATMENT PLANT # 1 <br /> The proposal for treatment plant #1 includes the <br /> construction ofa _ new building, newfilters and backwash <br /> recovery tank, and associated equipment. Also included is <br /> the necessary remodeling of the existing treatment plant <br /> building to convert this area to warm storage. <br /> TREATMENT PLANTS # 2 & 3 <br /> These plants would be remodeled to provide automated <br /> backwash capability and backwash recovery tanks. <br /> REHABILITATION OF WELL #4 <br /> This includes the test well recently completed, <br /> rehabilitation of the existing well , the necessary <br /> remodeling of the well house, and a transmission line from <br /> well #4 to the new treatment plant. <br /> • <br />
