YES ! - NOVEMBER 6, 1990 - VOTE ! YES !
SFACTS AND FIGURES
* Fire Station No. 1 , Spring Lake Road & Highway 10, was built in
1944 and is no longer adequate to meet current and future needs.
Because of its age and condition, it cannot be remodeled to house
modern apparatus.
* Residents and businesses served by Fire Station No. 2, adjacent to
Blaine City Hall, will be cut off from the station when new Highway
610 is completed. The freeway will make the station virtually
inaccessible for our volunteers.
* First-responding apparatus at Stations 1 , 3 and 4 average 22 years
in age and are due for replacement. The apparatus is wearing out -
costly to maintain.
* Rapid residential and commercial growth of our three cities means
equipment and facilities must be upgraded to provide adequate fire •
protection service. We do not have any type of training facility
but must use city streets and private buildings to drill on.
* No crew quarters at Stations 4 and 5 and no training tower and
related facilities.
•
