A-ktiv.v)
. MEMORANDUM
Memo To :Mayor and Council Members
From :Ric Minetor, Acting Clerk-Administrator
Date :August 1, 1990
Subject :Alternatives for Filling
the Clerk-Administrator Position
The recent resignation of Don Pauley as Clerk-Administrator has
significantly impacted current workloads. When you appointed me
as Acting Clerk-Administrator, you requested a proposal for
handling the short term impacts and also a discussion of the
manner of filling this position. I assumed that the request also
conveyed the intent for the Department Head team to review the
possible alternatives in a long term situation.
The immediate situation has been complicated with the resignation
of Michelle Hren, the City Planner; but I feel we can address the
situation with the following strategies:
• A) All current work on routine matters which are not time
sensitive will be suspended until a future date; this
includes the review of the municipal code and other similar
projects.
B) Projects in the Engineering division which can be handled
by our consultant (SEH) will be given to them to complete.
This may increase some of the projected fees for certain
projects such as the Surface Water Management Utility, as I
will not be doing as much work in these areas as originally
proposed.
C) Hiring a planning consultant to handle those planning
projects which are appropriate; possibly the Comprehensive
Plan Update and the TH 10 zoning moratorium.
D) If these strategies do not completely resolve the work
load problems, we can attempt to hire an administrative
intern or temporary help while utilizing current staff as
effectively as possible.
•
1
