1008.08 1008.08 <br /> b. Such signs shall not project over public street right of way but may <br /> project over sidewalks located on private walks. No such sign shall be <br /> less than twelve feet (12') above the level of the sidewalk; provided, that <br /> such signs which do not exceed four (4) square feet and which do not <br /> project more than two feet (2') over the sidewalk may be eight feet (8') <br /> or more above the sidewalk. No projection sign shall project beyond a <br /> curb line nor project more than eight feet (8') over any private sidewalk. <br /> c. There shall be no more than two feet (2') of space between the inner <br /> edge of any such sign and the face of the wall from which it projects, nor <br /> shall the outer edge of the sign be more than eight feet (8') from the face <br /> of the wall. <br /> d. The building or structure from which any such sign projects and all <br /> attachments or fastenings must be so constructed as to safely resist the <br /> dead load and the wind load added by the attached sign. <br /> e. All such signs shall be of noncombustible materials or of not less than <br /> one hour fire-resistive construction. <br /> Subd. 7. Roof Signs: The following standards shall be maintained for all roof <br /> signs: <br /> a. No roof sign shall be located nearer than five feet (5') from the outside <br /> wall toward which it faces nor exceed twenty five feet (25') in height <br /> 411 above the roof level of the building unless constructed integral with the <br /> building or structure, nor shall it project beyond the edge of said roof in <br /> any direction. For the purposes of this subdivision, lights attached to the <br /> sign structure and lights attached to the building and beamed toward the <br /> sign structure shall be considered part of the sign structure. <br /> b. Every such sign shall be either metal, metal clad, incombustible, open <br /> wire or open metal sign; except, that such sign may have letters, figures, <br /> characters or borders of wood if such borders do not exceed four inches <br /> (4") in width and such wooden letters, figures or characters do not cover <br /> more than twenty five percent (25%) of the area of such sign; provided, <br /> that in place of sheet metal, substitution may be made of the following <br /> materials: tempered pressed wood or other similar materials approved by <br /> the Building Inspector, having equal properties as to strength, fire and <br /> moisture resistance. <br /> c. No such sign shall be so placed as to prevent passage of persons from <br /> one part of the roof to another. <br /> d. The building or structure upon which such sign is placed and all <br /> attachments or fastenings must be so constructed as to safely resist the <br /> dead load and the wind load added by the attached sign and in such a <br /> • <br /> City of Mounds View <br />
