The truck that will be traded in is Unit No.731, a 1990 Chevrolet ¾ Ton Utility <br />Truck. It is currently in a usable condition and retains a salvage value due to the <br />City’s extensive maintenance program. This truck will go to the Government <br />Auction as soon as the City acquires the new replacement truck. <br /> <br />In addition to the truck itself, additional equipment and options are necessary to <br />fully utilize this truck. These include: a safety cab protector (back rack), strobe <br />light, 2-way radio, specialized antenna, safety lights, work/tool box and “City of <br />Mounds View” logos. These items can be purchased for approximately $1,800. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />A summary of the proposed truck replacement is as follows: <br /> <br />• 2005 ¾ Ton 4-wheel drive Ford F-250 Pick Up Truck $22,320.00 <br />• Tax, License, and Transfer Fees $1,484.30 <br />Subtotal: $23,804.30 <br /> <br />• Equipment $1,800 <br /> <br />Total: $25,604.30 <br /> <br />The approved 2005 General Fund, Parks Vehicle Account (Account 100-4360- <br />7030) has $28,000.00 budgeted for this pick up truck purchase. <br /> <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br />Staff recommends that the City Council approve the purchase of a 2005 ¾ Ton <br />Ford F-250 4-wheel drive Pick Up Truck under state contract and award a <br />contract to Superior Ford in the amount of $23,804.30 for the purchase of this <br />truck, including tax, license, and transfer fees. <br /> <br />Staff also recommends that the City Council approve the purchase of equipment <br />for the 2005 ¾ Ton Ford F-250 4-wheel drive pick up truck from local equipment <br />supply companies in the amount of approximately $1,800. <br /> <br />Finally, Staff recommends that the City Council approve the disposal of Unit <br />No.731, a 1990 Chevrolet ¾ Ton Utility Pick Up truck, via Government Auction, <br />as soon as the above mentioned truck is put into service. The trade-in amount is <br />estimated to be $1,500.00 to $2,000.00. The amount sold for at Government <br />Auction is not established until date of sale.
