RESOLUTION NO. 6421 CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW COUNTY OF RAMSEY STATE OF MINNESOTA APPROVING THE PURCHASE OF A REPLACEMENT TANKER TRUCK WHEREAS, the City purchased a 1981 International 1810 Series Tanker Truck; and WHEREAS, said tanker truck has is no longer cost effective and has therefore reached the end of its economically useful life cycle and is therefore scheduled for replacement; and WHEREAS, Staff explored several options and is recommending that the Tanker Truck be traded in and replaced with a similar truck with similar equipment and options; and WHEREAS, a 2005 Sterling Acterra Chassis can be purchased from Boyer Ford Trucks under state contract for $55,593.00. Tax, license, and transfer fees would cost an additional $4,500.00 and WHEREAS, additional equipment, such as a communication radio, antenna, city identification logos, and safety warning lights, are necessary to fully utilize said truck; and WHEREAS, said equipment can be purchased from local equipment supply companies in the amount of approximately $2,000.00; and WHEREAS, a tank mounted to the truck chassis and a street flushing system are needed to fully complete the tanker truck, and WHEREAS, bids for these items were received and the low bid of $55,555.00 was submitted by ABM Equipment and Supply of Hopkins, Minnesota; and WHEREAS, the low bid also included a bid alternate of $3,998 for a stainless steel tank, and WHEREAS, Staff highly recommends the inclusion of the stainless steel option, which would have a 20-year tank warranty and will not rust; and WHEREAS, said tank and related equipment and options can also be purchased and installed for $59,553.00 by the low bidder, ABM Equipment and Supply. Tax would cost an additional $3,870.95; and
