Mounds View City Council March 28, 2005 <br />Regular Meeting Page 9 <br /> <br />Public Works Director Lee stated that the logic with using UHL is they know the system, and it 1 <br />would be cheaper than using a company that don’t know the details of it. 2 <br /> 3 <br />Council Member Flaherty stated he would like a better breakdown on what the $8,000 would be 4 <br />used for. 5 <br /> 6 <br />Mayor Marty asked if they wanted to move to table this item until they got more information. 7 <br /> 8 <br />Council Member Gunn asked what the incentive was for them to get it done in two days for the 9 <br />$5,000. 10 <br /> 11 <br />Public Works Director Lee stated that the City has built a very good trust relationship with UHL. 12 <br /> 13 <br />Council Member Stigney asked if there was any warranty on this and for what time period. 14 <br /> 15 <br />Public Works Director Lee stated that he would have to get back to him on that because he didn’t 16 <br />know if there was a warranty on the gears they were putting in. 17 <br /> 18 <br />Council Member Stigney asked what “all materials guaranteed to be specified” meant in the 19 <br />second paragraph of UHL’s proposal. 20 <br /> 21 <br />Public Works Director Lee stated he didn’t know what that meant. 22 <br /> 23 <br />Council Member Stigney asked whether anyone had gone back to the manufacturer for their 24 <br />recommendations. 25 <br /> 26 <br />Council Member Flaherty stated that they couldn’t go back to the factory because they would 27 <br />send them to a distributor. 28 <br /> 29 <br />Council Member Gunn asked how urgent this matter was. 30 <br /> 31 <br />Public Works Director Lee stated that it could be tabled until the next Council meeting, and right 32 <br />now the unit is red tagged and shut off, and due to the time of year, it should be okay to wait. 33 <br /> 34 <br />MOTION/SECOND. To table this item until the next Council meeting. 35 <br /> 36 <br /> Ayes-5 Nays-0 Motion carried. 37 <br /> 38 <br />Bill Warner, 2765 Sherwood Road, asked if it turned out to be $5,000 if the Council would was 39 <br />going to accept less money. 40 <br /> 41 <br />Mayor Marty stated that they were going to pay less money. 42 <br /> 43 <br />Mr. Warner asked if anybody would be embarrassed about working with the lower bid, and then 44 <br />having it come back to them and asking for more if it’s really necessary. 45
