<br />Projector and Screen Estimates <br /> <br />Installer Estimate Projector Lumens <br />AVI $5,162.00 Panasonic PT-L735U 2600 <br />EPA $4,471.00 Sony VPL-CX800 3000 <br />DS Productions $4,279.30 Viewsonic PJ562 2000 <br /> <br />Lumens indicate the brightness of the bulb for the projector. The current projector is 1500 <br />lumens. All of the new projectors mentioned increase the brightness an extra 500 to 1500 <br />lumens, and would perform well for the new projector screen location. <br /> <br />The document camera and projector models are based on the recommendations of each <br />installer. However, any installer can change the models in their estimates upon request. <br />DS Productions quotes the cheapest model and labor for the projector and screen <br />replacement. <br /> <br /> <br />4. Summary <br />Both the document camera and projector need to be updated. With plans underway to <br />renovate City Hall, it makes sense to perform these updates to improve the visual aids in <br />Council Chambers. Since there are no current plans for any major renovation inside Council <br />Chambers, this update does not need to coincide with other renovations. A new document <br />camera will be easier to operate and provide many years of reliable service. A new projector <br />will cast a brighter and more readable image on to the side wall, where both the Council <br />members and the audience can view PowerPoint presentations and images from the <br />document camera. <br /> <br />Since wiring the document camera to the projector is necessary, it is recommended that both <br />the document camera and the projector be replaced by the same installer as a single job. <br />This will ensure that these two new units will work together properly. Installing both units <br />together also allows a more immediate benefit of a better display in council chambers. <br /> <br />DS Productions has the lowest estimate of $6,754.18, including taxes, for the document <br />camera and projector replacement. DS Productions is a reliable local installer that has <br />performed previous work satisfactorily for the Mounds View Community Center. DS <br />Productions also has performed major repairs and installations at Arden Hills City Hall, and <br />has earned a good reputation for service. <br /> <br />Recommendation: Staff recommends the hiring of DS Productions to replace the document <br />camera, projector, and screen for Council Chambers for the amount of $6443.30. <br /> <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />Ken Gammell <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
