Item No: 09N
Meeting Date: May 23, 2005
Type of Business: CB
Administrator Review: _____
City of Mounds View Staff Report
To: Honorable Mayor and City Council
From: Mary Burg, Golf Course Manager
Item Title/Subject: Authorization to Celebrate The Bridges of Mounds View 10th
Anniversary including a Roll Back Fees to 1995 Rates

Background:

The Bridges of Mounds View opened its doors for operation Saturday, June 24,1994. In
an effort to create awareness and additional marketing for The Bridges of Mounds View
staff is requesting council to consider a special day to commemorate the occasion.

Discussion:

The Bridges of Mounds View is a special place to many patrons. In an effort to enhance
the awareness of the course operation staff wishes to create some special marketing
around the 10th Anniversary of the golf course. The suggested date is proposed to be
Friday, June 24, 2005.

Events would include advertising promoting the date and the specials. The promotion
will have residual benefit in the following weeks or months. The advertising will be
specific to golfers and the local community by offering the price of a fee from the year
the course opened, 1995.

The event could include a roll back of prices to 1995 rate. The price of a green fee
was $8.00, range balls were $3.50 or $5.00. This would be especially effective for to
increase attention on the day. This would serve to target all golfer patrons but would be
especially attractive for families.

Other specials could include Hot Dog Meal Deals, Hitting of a Ceremonial Golf Ball by
Mayor or other dignitary, as well as putting and pitching contests.

The event could be the topic of prior advertising. The day of the event could be covered
and follow up press releases creating additional marketing. The rolled back green fee
may affect 150-175 golfers in the best case scenario.

The food discounts would be supported in part through vendor sponsorships. Other
games and prizes would be supported though entry fees. It would be very exciting.
