Item No. 08F <br />Meeting Date: July 11, 2005 <br />Type of Business: CB <br />City Administrator Review _______ <br /> City of Mounds View Staff Report <br /> <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Desaree Crane, Administrative Assistant <br /> <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 6579 Revising the Policy Approving <br />Certain Employee Appreciation Events and <br />Employee 5-year Milestone Awards <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />Staff was directed by the City Council on the July 5, 2005, Work Session, to <br />revise the policy set in Resolution 5617 for Plaques awarded to retiring <br />employees. Staff was directed to give retiring employees the option of either a <br />plaque or a gift certificate. Resolution 5617 (passed October 8, 2001), created a <br />mechanism by which employees would be appreciated and awarded for <br />achieving certain level of years of service. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br /> <br />Resolution 5617 was adopted by the Council to show its appreciation for City <br />employees for their dedicated and committed services. One of the clauses <br />indicates that Mounds View will provide to employees “gift certificates in the <br />amount of $5 per year of service at five-year increments” and also authorizes <br />providing retiring employees with “plaques.” <br /> <br />Resolution 5617 also states that the annual employee appreciation event is to be <br />held at the Mounds View Banquet and Conference Center. The last two <br />Employee Appreciations were held at City Hall Park. Staff has revised this policy <br />to include Mounds View City Parks to ensure that more options are considered. <br /> <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br />Attached for the City Council consideration is Resolution 6579 Revising the <br />Policy Approving Certain Employee Appreciation Events and Employee 5-year <br />Milestone Awards.
