He stated that he did not know what type of jobs it would involve. He 15
referenced the tax issues noting that taxes would go down approximately $2.00 per household 16
with everything else being equal if Medtronic is just taken by itself. He stated that the City 17
would still have a general tax levy next year that would go above the $200 so it is likely that the 18
residents would still see a tax increase from the normal tax levy. He stated that the tax levy was 19
scheduled to increase $10.00 and with Medtronic coming in it would increase by $8.00. He 20
stated that he does not want to leave the impression that taxes would be going down next year 21
because that is not the case. 22
23
MOTION/SECOND. Thomas/Flaherty. He stated that it is the southwest 36
corner of Long Lake Road/County Road H2. He noted that approximately 50 residents attended 37
noting that it was the first opportunity in a group setting to discuss the townhome development 38
project. He stated that 72 units were approved in the 1970’s noting that six units were 39
constructed and 66 units are yet to be constructed. He stated that based on a ruling by a judge 40
last year they are looking at 66 additional units. He stated that what they wanted to discuss with 41
the residents is that they were fully informed on the project and to ensure that they were aware 42
that this was not something the City supported and their hand was forced. He stated that it gave 43
the opportunity to ask several questions of the developer noting that it also gave them the 44
opportunity to ask questions about drainage, access points and traffic concerns.
