Mounds View City Council June 27, 2005 Regular Meeting Page 18 1 Council Member Stigney called a point of order stating that a motion to table is not in order but a 2 postponement would be. He asked if the resolution would include the $300.00 for the additional 3 five-year warranty. 4 Public Works Director Lee confirmed that the $300.00 would be included noting that he has two 5 additional points to add to the resolution: one would be the $300.00 to extend the warranty and 6 the other would be the $1200.00 to go through the other roof top units to make sure none of the 7 others are in the same condition. 8 9 Mayor M arty asked if Public Works Director Lee could bring this back to Council after he has 10 spoken with them on the estimate. He asked if this is a time sensitive issue noting that they are 11 getting to the hottest time of the year. 12 13 Public Works Director Lee confirmed that it is getting time sensitive at this point. He stated that 14 UHL has said they could work on it right away, as soon as they get the approval from Council. 15 He stated that they could postpone the decision on this until July 11th but it would get pretty tight 16 time wise if they go beyond that timeframe. 17 18 Council Member Thomas asked if they are willing to do a refit and new pricing. 19 20 Public Works Director Less stated that they could go back and discuss this with UHL noting that 21 he is anticipating that they would come back stating that there are a lot of unknowns in doing this 22 kind of work, which is why they gave the city this quote. He noted that the original quote did go 23 from $5000 to $8000 for two days of work. He stated that the safest thing to do would be to 24 approve this and possibly put a cap of $5500 to $5800.00. He stated that after they tear it apart to 25 see what actually should be done and he could then come back on July 11th to update Council 26 noting that they are basically committed at that point. 27 28 Council Member Thomas stated that the problem with that is if they have a team here working 29 and they pull the team off the job and then have to bring them back again to complete the work 30 that it would cost the city even more money. She expressed concerns stating that she does not 31 like the numbers and feels that the quote is too high. 32 33 Mayor Marty agreed stating that it is getting to be the most critical time of the year to have air 34 conditioning noting that he received several comments from people at the public hearing last 35 week. He clarified with Public Director Lee that he has worked with UHL before and that they 36 provided this quote because they weren’t really sure what they are getting into. 37 38 Public Works Director Lee stated that the city has had a long relationship with UHL and he does 39 have a lot of trust with UHL based on the work they have done for the city in the past. He noted 40 that another vendor could have come in with a lower quote and go over the quote. He explained 41 that UHL was trying to give the bigger picture noting that they have been very honest and upfront 42 with this quote and with the work they have done for the city in the past. 43 44 Council Member Stigney stated that if Public Works Director has a comfort level with UHL then 45
