He stated that UHL would do their best to keep the costs 5
down. 6
7
Mayor Marty stated that he agrees with Council Member Stigney noting that $300.00 for an 8
extended warranty is well worth the cost and asked that this be included in the agreement. 9
10
MOTION/SECOND Flaherty/Marty To Postpone Approval for the Resolution 6489 11
Approving Expenditure of Funds to Repair Roof Top Unit No. 7 at the Community Center. 12
13
Ayes – 1 Nays-4 (Gunn, Marty, Thomas, Stigney) Motion denied. 14
15
MOTION/SECOND Thomas/Marty To Approve Resolution 6489 Approving Expenditure of 16
Funds to Repair Roof Top Unit No. 7 at the Community Center in an amount not to exceed 17
$8100.00 and to include additional amendments for the extended warranty for $300.00 and a 18
review of all remaining Roof Top Units for $1200.00 and waive the reading. 19
20
Aye-4 Nay-1 (Flaherty) Motion carried. 21
22
L. Resolution 6563 Approving the Purchase of the SCADA Upgrade. 23
24
Public Works Director Lee stated that the city’s SCADA system stands for Supervisory Control 25
and Data Acquisition System. He explained that this system controls and monitors the city’s six 26
wells, the three water treatment plants, the water tower and ground water reservoir elevations and 27
two of the city’s sanitary lift stations. He stated that this is a very important piece of equipment 28
in terms of monitoring and controlling the city’s water system. He stated that it was installed in 29
1989 and was upgraded in 1998 in preparation for Y2K. He stated that the city would gain the 30
ability to monitor the city’s water and sanitary sewer system on a 24-hour basis. He stated that 31
Public Works has been gearing up for this and has a position ready for this so that someone 32
would be monitoring the city systems on a 24-hour basis noting that the only downfall to the plan 33
is that they do not have a computer system to support this. He stated that Ray would do it now 34
but the old system continues to crash and the tech has to come in and reset the systems. He 35
stated that the upgrade would correct this problem adding that there would be additional monitors 36
installed to allow underground monitoring of the ground water elevation and wells. He stated 37
that in the past they have had problems when they had to pump them down and the monitoring 38
would allow them to control the pumping levels. He stated that in summary this upgrade would 39
allow them to monitor the utility systems on a 24-hour basis and utilize it at its fullest capacity. 40
He stated that staff is recommending the upgrade at an estimated cost of $18,000.00. He noted 41
that this is a budgeted item. 42
43
Council Member Stigney referenced PC Anywhere, OEM Version 10.0, OEM original 44
equipment manufacturer of the software, and asked if this means that the software is only tied 45
