On August 23, 2004, the City Council approved Resolution 6333 authorizing the <br />publication of a Request For Proposal (RFP) for work associated with the <br />preparation of a site plan, construction plans, and specifications for the <br />Groveland Park Building Replacement Project. <br /> <br />On October 25, 2004 the City Council approved Resolution No. 6383 approving <br />and authorizing the execution of a Letter Agreement with TKDA for the <br />Groveland Park Building Replacement Project. This letter of agreement <br />authorized the creation of plans and specifications. <br /> <br />On June 13, 2005 the City Council approved Resolution No. 6558 approving <br />plans and specifications, setting a public improvement hearing, ordering the <br />project, setting a bid date, and authorizing to advertise for bids for the Groveland <br />Park Building Replacement Project. <br /> <br /> <br />Discussion: <br /> <br />Review Bids - Bids for the Groveland Park Building Replacement Project were <br />received at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 14, 2005 at City Hall. The bids were <br />composed of the base bid to perform the construction of the building and a bid <br />alternate for the air conditioning of the building. <br /> <br />A total of two (2) bids were received for this project. The low bid of $289,700.00 <br />was submitted by Unicorp Incorporated of Saint Paul Minnesota. The bid <br />alternate for air conditioning was $7,000.00. A bid bond for five percent (5%) of <br />the bid amount was included with the bid. The bid has been reviewed and found <br />to be in order. <br /> <br />A complete bid summary is as follows: <br /> <br />BIDDER’S NAME BASE BID BID ALTERNATE <br />Unicorp Incorporated $289,700 $7,000 <br /> <br />Meisinger Construction $302,000 $5,500 <br /> <br /> <br />The engineer's estimate was $227,000. 27.6% less than the lowest actual bid <br /> <br /> <br />TKDA Construction Services – Should the City Council wish to proceed with <br />this project, it is recommended that the City utilize the construction services of <br />TKDA to over see the project and ensure that the contractor adheres to the plans <br />and specifications. TKDA has submitted a letter agreement in the amount of <br />$14,000.00 to provide these services. See attached agreement. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
