Item No. 8C <br />Meeting Date: July 25, 2005 <br />Type of Business: CB <br />WK: Work Session; PH: Public Hearing; <br />CA: Consent Agenda; CB: Council Business <br />City Administrator Review _______ <br /> City of Mounds View Staff Report <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Greg Lee, Director of Public Works <br /> <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 6583 Approving Final Plans and <br />Specifications and Setting a Bid Date for the City <br />Hall Rehabilitation Project <br /> <br /> <br />Background: <br />On April 4, 2005, the City Council, at a Work Session, reviewed the status of the <br />City Hall Rehabilitation Project, which included design and development level <br />plans. <br /> <br />On April 11, 2005, the City Council set a public hearing date of April 25, 2005 for <br />this project and authorized its publication. <br /> <br />On April 25, 2005, the City Council held a public hearing and approved <br />Resolution No. 6504 which ordered the project, and approved a letter agreement <br />with SEH for the development of detailed plans and specifications for the City <br />Hall Rehabilitation Project. <br /> <br /> <br />Discussion: <br />Plans and Specifications - As directed, detailed plans and specifications for the <br />City Hall Rehabilitation Project have been completed. These are attached for the <br />City Council’s review. <br /> <br />The current specifications include a basic entry to City Hall and the main <br />entrance to the Police Department. These new entrances will meet the current <br />energy codes for a new building. There were several concept entrance designs <br />that were considered earlier in the design process. One that seems to be a <br />preferred choice was a “tower” style entrance. Since this design is more for <br />aesthetics than to meet energy code or other new federal regulations it will be <br />included only as bid alternate. <br /> <br />The objective of this project is to; 1) increase air quality, 2) increase the energy <br />efficiency, 3) make the building accessible to all based on current Americans with <br />Disability Act, and 4) make minor modification to arrange the space to better
