MOUNDS VIEW PLANNING COMMISSION RESOLUTION NO. 57-82 CITY OF' MOUNDS VIEW COUNTY OF RAMSEY STATE OF MINNESOTA RESOLUTION RECOMMENDING APPROVAL OF A CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT FOR THE CONVERSION OF EDGEWOOD JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL TO A COMMUNITY RESOURCE CENTER AND VARIANCE FOR THE REDUCED NUMBER OF PARKING SPACES WHEREAS, the Mounds View School District has decided to close Edgewood Junior High School at the end of the 1981-1982 school year; and WHEREAS, the School District intends to preserve the building for future educational use; and WHEREAS, a community resource center is in operation in the City of New Brighton; and WHEREAS, the School District wishes to maintain and expand its present activities which now exist at the New Brighton faci.l_i t -.y, {' although space is somewhat limited at this facility; and WHEREAS, Edgewood Junior High School is an ideal location for the activities proposed by the School District; and WIiEREAS, a conditional use permit is required for a community center in an R-1 residential district; and WHEREAS, Chapter 40 of the Municipal Code identifies various requirements for the conditional use permit, one of which is parking; and WIIEREA:I, the existing 161. parking spaces (following t:estr.iping) do not conform to Chapter 40 requirements for community centers which states that 843 spaces be provided; and WHEREAS, a study has been conducted on the parking situation at existing Edgewood Junior High School to deterriine existing and future parking requirements; and WHEREAS, the existing 140 spaces can be expanded to 161 by restriping the present parking areas; and WHEREAS, an additional 82 spaces can be provided on-site shoul.:l future need arise; and I'l WHEREAS, the School District has determined that the proposed �_ use as " a community center would allow future reconversion of the building use to a school; and
