Recreation Programs - The overriding recreation <br /> objective is continuing enrichment and growth <br /> through leisure education and recreational <br /> opportunities for all City residents . <br /> 2.. Forestry Program - The primary objective of the <br /> Forestry Program is to preserve and supplement the <br /> existing floral canopy in Mounds View and provide <br /> additional support services relative to plants , <br /> shrubbery, and shade trees for the enjoyment and <br /> education of all City residents . <br /> 3. Parks and Recreation Facilities - Develop and <br /> implement a comprehensive park and recreation <br /> area and facilities plan for the City in <br /> • accordance with accepted standards and keeping <br /> in mind the needs and best interests of the City. <br /> 4 . Park Maintenance - Through coordination of park <br /> maintenance activities with the Public Works Foreman , <br /> ensure a continuous and systematic program of repair, <br /> replacement and maintenance of all park and recreation <br /> facilities and equipment . <br /> The City ' s fire protection services are provided by the Blaine , <br /> T�pring Lake Park , Mounds View Fire Department, Inc . , a private <br /> non-profit corporation , through a contract for those services . <br /> e station providing primary coverage for Mounds View is located <br /> =:r 1810 NE Highway 10 on the west end of the city. <br /> Public Utilities <br /> The municipally owned and operated water system includes two <br /> elevated storage tanks , a two million gallon reservoir and six <br /> wells . The system will be capable of handling anticipated growth <br /> with no added strain to the system . <br /> As is the case for a large portion of the central metropolitan <br /> area , Metropolitan Waste Control Commission (MWCC ) lines serve <br /> Mounds View with a Lift station located west of Edgewood <br /> Community Center on County Road H . The municipal sanitary sewer <br /> system feeding the MWCC lines includes 3 lift stations which are <br /> capable of providing an adequate level of service to the <br /> community. It is anticipated that the •present sanitary sewer <br /> system will be capable of serving the community ' s future needs. <br /> The City ' s storm drainage system consists of a network of open <br /> ditches , wetlands , retention or detention ponds and storm <br /> sewers . In recognition of the need for adequate storm <br /> water drainages without overburdening the existing system, the <br /> City has established a policy requiring that all new development, <br /> • except single family homes , provided on-site retention or <br /> detention of storm water. Also, the City has enacted an <br /> ordinance protecting wetlands exceeding . 9 acre in size and <br /> regulating the type of development that may occur in and around <br /> them . <br /> 5-11 <br />
