1111 AREAS OF MAJOR ROAD IMPROVEMENTS <br /> 1 . Develop ring roads to serve the City Center and the highway oriented <br /> commercial district northwest of the Highway 10/Interstate 35W inter- <br /> change according to the following criteria: <br /> a. Intersection points with Highway 10 should occur to the extent possible <br /> at signalized intersections . <br /> b . Off-street parking should be easily accessible from the ring road . <br /> c . Parking should be prohibited along the ring roads. <br /> d . Access to the ring roads should be limited to selected major points. <br /> e . The alignment of the ring road should be determined in conjunction <br /> with an overall development plan-for each district involved. <br /> PEDESTRIAN/BICYCLE <br /> 1 . Consider pedestrian/bicycle corridors along major elements of the transportation <br /> system and throughout the more densely populated portions of the community. <br /> City Center, place the highest priorityon pedestrian circulation <br /> 2 . Within the C, y9 <br /> needs. <br /> 3 . Make provisions for safe pedestrian and bicycle crossings at major intersections . <br /> 4. Where deemed necessary to this City's trail system, require developers to <br /> install links in new subdivisions. <br /> MASS TRANSIT <br /> 1 . Establish a more concentrated demand for transit service through the develop- <br /> ment of the City Center. <br /> 2. Support and encourage the implementation of a long range transit program <br /> which concentrates on providing higher levels of service to activity centers . <br /> 106 <br />
