STREETS AND PARKING41110
1 . Designate streets according to the functional classifications as defined by
the Metropolitan Council . These classifications are as follows:
Principal Arterials
Minor Arterials
Collector Streets
Local Streets
PRINCIPAL ARTERIALS
1 . As plans for new Highway 10 are developed, work cooperatively with the
Highway Department in strongly discouraging any interchange connections
with Red Oak Drive to ensure that the impact on existing and future residential
development in northern Mounds View is minimized.
MINOR ARTERIALS
1 . Prohibit any further direct land access to properties along old Highway 10.
Where available, encourage use of alternative access points rather than
access from Highway 10. .
2 . Where possible, realign streets which intersect Highway 10 at other than
a 90 degree angle to form 90 degree intersections with the highway.
3 . Prohibit on-street parking along Silver Lake Road.
4. Preserve right-of-way on either side of old Highway 10 for future
development as a greenway buffer and pedestrian/bicycle corridor.
COLLECTOR STREETS
1 . Encourage the use of collector streets for access to the arterial system and
discourage the use of alternative local streets. Alternative methods of
accomplishing this objective include the introduction of traffic diverters,
cul-de-sating of local streets, the use of stop signs and restriction of left
turn movements along selected local streets.
•
•
S
105
