<br />Item No: 9E <br />Meeting Date: 08/08/05 <br /> Type of Business: CA <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Kurt Ulrich, City Administrator <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 6598 Accepting and Approving the Distribution of <br />Bethlehem Baptist Church Community Donation <br /> <br /> <br />Background: <br />As part of its commitment to the community of Mounds View, the Bethlehem Baptist <br />Church Council of Elders passed a Resolution that creates a “Mounds View Service <br />Project” with the intention of providing $25,000 per year in funds to help meet community <br />needs as identified by the City and the Church. <br /> <br />The Church donates the contributions twice annually in the amount of $12,500. At the <br />August 1st Council work session, the Church recommended to the Council the following <br />distribution of funds: <br /> <br /> Park and Recreation Groveland Park Building Project $7,500 <br /> YMCA “Y Partners” Program $2,500 <br /> Festival in the Park $2,500 <br /> <br />These recommendations were based upon discussions with City staff, the YMCA, and <br />Festival representatives. The Council consensus was that these projects were good <br />places to put the funding. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br />It is recommended that the Council pass a resolution accepting the donation and the <br />proposed distribution of funds to these projects. Once the funds are received they will be <br />distributed to these entities through the City. <br /> <br />A committee consisting of Church members and City representatives is to be established <br />by 2006. This Committee would make recommendations to the Council in the future <br />regarding the use of the donated funds. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br />It is recommended that the Council pass the attached Resolution 6598 accepting the <br />donation and the proposed distribution of funds from Bethlehem Baptist Church. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
