Crane, Administrative Assistant <br /> <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 6606 Supporting the Improvements to <br />Springbrook Nature Center Associated with the SPRING <br />(Sanctuary Protection & Renewal into the Next Generation) <br />and Supporting a Request for Financial Assistance from the <br />State of Minnesota <br /> <br /> <br />The voters in the City of Fridley approved a $275,000 referendum in November of <br />2004 to continue programming and city-paid staff at Springbrook Nature Center. <br />The Springbrook Nature Center is now making a request for a $2.5 million <br />matching state grant. The Springbrook Nature Center Foundation has initiated a <br />fundraising campaign to complete this matching grant to reach their $5 million goal <br />for capital improvements at Springbrook Nature Center. <br /> <br />The Mayor of Fridley is asking neighboring communities to support the foundation <br />in achieving a state grant by submitting a resolution of support.
